MaxiSMART® awning motors with obstacle detection are designed to protect both your blinds and your home. Here’s how the system works during operation.
Step 1: Blind in Motion
When the blind is lowered into the down position, the motor automatically monitors for resistance or blockage along its path.
Step 2: Obstacle Detected
As soon as the blind makes contact with an obstruction—such as a chair or table—the motor responds instantly. The blind will reverse upwards by approximately 200 mm.
Step 3: Second Attempt
The motor then makes a controlled second attempt to lower the blind. This is to confirm whether the obstruction is temporary or accidental.
Step 4: Safety Stop
If the obstacle is still present, the blind retracts once more and stops in place. This prevents the fabric from over-rolling inside the cassette and protects the mechanism from damage.
Why It Matters
Obstacle detection ensures blinds operate safely without risk of tearing fabric, jamming components, or damaging furniture. It is an essential feature for Ziptrak® awnings and other outdoor blind installations where objects may occasionally be left in the way.
Summary
The MaxiSMART® obstacle detection motor gives you peace of mind by combining smart technology with built-in safety. With this feature, your blinds remain protected from accidental damage while continuing to deliver smooth, reliable performance.
